How to Enable Remote sharing / VNC on Ubuntu 16.04 / 18.04

Remote Desktop is an inbuilt option for most of the operating systems. But coming to Linux, users has to install third party software to enable Remote Desktop Sharing. From Ubuntu 16.04 on-wards, Remote desktop sharing is coming along with OS. So, users need not to install any third party softwares like TigerVNC, etc.

Enable Remote Sharing Ubuntu:

  1. Go to Ubuntu Settings
  2. Click Sharing

    ubuntu_remote_sharing

  3. Click Turn on Toggle Button
  4. Turn on the Toggle – Screen Sharing
  5. Select allow connections to control the screen
  6. Select Access option as Select Require password “Require a password”
  7. Enter the password and confirm Passwordubuntu_remote_sharing
  8. Close the screen
  9. Open terminal and Enter below command:
    gsettings set org.gnome.Vino require-encryption false
